Homelessness in the UK


Reports of over 5000 people sleep on the streets of London alone.

The most common reason for becoming homeless in the UK is because loss of accommodation provided by their friends or family.

There are a total of 84,900 households In England for homeless people, which may contain more than one person.

In 2009 more than a 100 children less than 16 were living in shop doorways and on street corners.

The big issue magazine was launched in 1991, and where first able to sell in London, They were designed by Gordon Roddick and John Bird. The aim of these magazines where to make people aware of how some people have to live with no money, nothing to eat or drink and nowhere to live.

There tends to be younger children becoming homeless than adults this may be because of:
·        Violence
·        Drugs
·        Abuse
·        Family Background
·        Heavy Drinking
·        Having no money to pay for housing.
